Best Hair and Beauty Salon RUSH

I’m here today to sing some long overdue praises of a well known brand who I have had the pleasure of getting to know since starting my blogging journey. This brand has establishments all over London’s best streets and boroughs as well as nationwide. I’m talking about RUSH Hair and Beauty. These guys have looked after me so well and I am here to share some highlights from a few stores I’ve visited over the past couple of months. For me, the best hair and beauty salon around is RUSH!

RUSH Holborn Salon

I’ve been to a number of RUSH salons to have treatments, cuts and blow drys, but one of the best in my opinion is the RUSH Holborn Salon. This is a brand new addition to the family with a lovely space and atmosphere. It follows the design of the other salons, and is so fresh and clean (if that makes sense) for a salon. I met with stylist Georgie for my appointment here, so if you book make sure to ask for her! Photos from this appointment are down below.

Before we get there, I want to tell you a bit about the Piccadilly Circus branch. This is the main hub where all the cool shit goes down. This is the real epicentre of RUSH Hair and Beauty in London and they always host fabulous events, just like this one.

Just before Christmas, RUSH Piccadilly hosted a wonderful evening open to everyone to test out some new clients. One just happened to be Glitterlips, so you know how this one turned out…

Boom! All the sparkles!

The RUSH Piccadilly salon also has a wonderful space upstairs for beauty treatments. This can be anything from relaxing pedicures to microdermabrasion facials. I tried out the microdermabrasion machine on my arm the last time I went in there, so I’m thinking this might be something to try to rejuvinate my skin after the cold snap.

Now I’m going to show you a few shots from my last cut and blowdry from the Holborn salon with Georgie…

I’m always excited to try out Kerastase products which are stocked in plentiful supply at RUSH. They have the finest treatments if your hair is needing a boost.

My hair never felt so good after this cut, it had been about 8 months since my last one (shhh!) so this was long overdue.

Let me know in the comments about what you thought- are RUSH the best Hair and Beauty Salon? If you haven’t been to visit yet, find your nearest salon and make an appointment, I’m sure you are due for a haircut just like me!

One last thing to share with you all, I am so proud to feature on RUSH’s website as one of the top fashion and beauty Instagram bloggers to look out for in 2017, how cool is that?!

Check out who else made the list here

Waiting for more beauty? Then you should head on over to my brunch with the guys from Argan Oil

Thanks for reading Best Hair and Beauty Salon RUSH

Simply Argan Brunch

This post is going to be very to the point and simple. I’m not going to put my usual spin on things as there really is no need. If you are ready for a no nonsense post then you are in the right place! I don’t feel like this needs any elaboration as the products speak for themselves, it’s that simple! So here is a little glimpse into a fantastic time at the Simply Argan Brunch.

I met with Yasmine, a selection of bloggers, our hosts Cat PR and representatives of the brand Simply Argan. The location was a niche little cafe called Friends of Ours on a bright and chilly morning, just a few days after getting married. First things first, food order and a hot chai tea latte…

We were introduced to Simply Argan’s main man Darren Smith and their beauty expert and product developer Amanda Cooper, who were just so lovely and eager to tell us about the brand.

They are both local to Wilmslow which is just below Manchester. It’s here they decided to open up their first shop after the huge success of launching Argan oil in the UK. Before this time you couldn’t easily find a good stock of Argan oil anywhere in the United Kingdom, so the plan was (and is) to bring back a slice of the golden goodness from Morocco so that we can all enjoy it.

You can learn more about their amazing back story and journey here via the website.

Onto my second drink- a matcha latte!

I was so impressed by the cafe’s food at the same time listening to what Darren and Amanda had to say. A perfectly cooked egg with runny middle atop the creamiest sauce, crushed potatoes and salty bacon crispies!

A few of the key benefits to Argan oil is that it’s moisturising, anti-ageing and can help acne and stretch marks.

Here are my top three products!

Left to right:

Simply Argan Collagen Facial Moisturiser

Simply Argan Pure Organic Argan Oil

Simply Argan Hair Treatment

There’s only one place to buy Argan Oil in the UK and that’s from these guys! www.simplyarganoilshop.com

#WeLoveSleep Tempur Event

I find it shocking that we spend 1/3 of our lives asleep. It’s crazy when you think about it, 33.3% of our lives just gone! I think we all see time quite differently. Some of us are live in the moment people, and others spend our time looking back at the past wishing and regretting. Well I am a person who loves to think forward, always excited for what’s to come. Either way, it is vital that we spend one third of our time on sleep that we so desperately need. In this post, I’m going to share a few memories from the #WeLoveSleep Tempur event including Dr Nicola Barclay’s expert talk on sleep.

Merrell and I were thrilled to be invited along to the talk and event held at the Royal Institution of Great Britain on a December evening. The location, being one of scientific education, was perfect as the company Tempur is founded on the science behind a good night’s sleep.

Dr Nicola Barclay was the guest speaker for the evening, and she explained how her job involves the investigation of factors to do with insomnia as well as sleep patterns.

She showed us the ins and outs of REM sleep and went into detail about why not only sleep is so important, but also the right amount. It is recommended that we receive 6-8 hours. She mentioned that studies have shown that having more than this can actually be detrimental to your heath- an increased risk of heart disease and BMI issues. But sleep is also an individual thing, your body knows how much it needs.

A few stand-out facts from the #WeLoveSleep Tempur event:

Our cells in the hypothalamus receive information when we sleep including retinal indicators of light which tell us that it’s time to wake up. This is called a Circadian rhythm, basically why we wake up a few minutes before our alarm.

Cotton sheets are better than synthetic materials for dispelling heat as you can’t get to sleep easily when too hot. The optimum temperature is 20-22 degrees. Check out this guide for more on the best bed sheets.

Having a bed that supports you is absolutely key. This is especially important for people with pain and sleep apnea.

Don’t look at your clock if you wake during the night- imagine you have all night left as this will help settle you again.

Leave worries and work outside the bedroom. Don’t take your phone to bed with you, remove it as it’s something associated with the daytime and being awake.

A few from the Q and A session:

Question 1: Snoring, what can be done about it?

There are three causes for snoring: tongue, nose and facial areas. The best thing to do is find out what type of snorer you are with an online test!

Question 2 (my question): I find that having the TV on helps me sleep better rather than being in complete silence- why is that?

The reason for this is habituation, and also the use of TV as a distraction. This helps many people to switch off and block out their own thoughts and work etc. I found out that Dr Nicola falls asleep to the TV also, so now I don’t feel like it’s a bad thing!

We had such an incredible, informative night at the #WeLoveSleep Tempur event, we even were lucky enough to take a Tempur pillow home too, plus a Tempur teddy which I named Barnabus!

Sleep well, and leave a comment down below if you liked!

Keep on reading, the next post is all about Cadburys Chocolate!

A Cadvent Kind of Christmas

I hope that 2017 has been treating you right so far. I am just settling into married life, though I don’t see much of Paul with his crazy busy work life, and into our new home. For those of you who don’t know, Paul and I moved out of London over the Christmas period and into an annex attached to his parent’s house. We were always planning on doing this after getting hitched so it’s not something we jumped into. I have some wonderful memories and photos I’d like to share with you all from the past few weeks and it involves lots of chocolate! This Christmas has been a Cadvent Kind of Christmas indeed!

Cadbury’s and I have worked together before if you remember back to last summer’s Obey Your Mouth campaign. So it was lovely to hear all about the launch of their first ever Cadvent knitwear collection last month. I think that this is a wonderful step in an ever expanding direction for Cadbury’s, so of course I had to get involved!

The products come with hidden compartments including a scarf with deep 18cm pockets that can conceal even the most generous of gorgeous goodies – such as a box of Cadbury Roses or Cadbury Heroes?!

A great idea to keep the cold and the cravings at bay!

My friend Tash helped me take some shots in Saffron Walden, I adore this snowflake-bedecked hat. I felt bad making her take shots while it was sub-zero in the centre of the town but it was too lovely a winter’s morning not to!

I also had to get my Great Dane to strike a pose with the scarf, isn’t purple just his colour?!

The collection is now launched on Cadvent.co.uk so why not take a look and see for yourself?

Now onto a few memories from Christmas 2016.

Paul and I had my friend Natasha over for a few days. We had a day trip out to Shoreditch’s underground mini golf course The Junkyard and I took Tash to see Ipswich as well.

We met these cretins (otherwise known as Evie and Ruby) and my oldest friend Cleo for a few rounds of a pub quiz (Talking Tables).

We munched on these Cadbury snacks and the snow bites went down a treat!

Let’s hope next year is a Cadvent kind of Christmas too, you can never say that too much chocolate is a bad thing around Christmas time to see you into the New Year!

Size doesn’t matter, but style does

I have been working on a super exciting project over the Christmas period and it’s finally ready for you all. This post is focused around the winter collection from Simply Be, but it’s got a bit more to it than that. This post is one of two posts, the other coming from my blogger babe Yasmine who has been essential to the thought process of this piece. We are two female bloggers living in London. We both love to blog, we have the same Olympus pen camera when we do blog, and we share the same love for matcha tea too. Come to think of it we are very similar indeed. The one difference however is our size which is where all the fun comes in, and I shall explain why. We both have the exact same three things from Simply Be’s winter collection and we are going to show you that size doesn’t matter, but style does!

We have styled these three items up to our own specification and we want to help show all our readers that when it comes to a top, a dress, a jacket, no one should feel like it’s not made for them. It is made for those with a desire to invent a wardrobe around that piece whatever it may be. You are not too ‘old’, too ‘big’, too ‘petite’ or too ‘what the hell who cares’ for that item that catches your eye.

The Jumper

Lace up Top: Simply Be
Wetlook Trousers: H&M
Space Boots: Lacoste
Pom Pom Clutch: Boohoo

Size is not relative to style, it’s about how you go about styling to fit not only your personality but your body as well. There is a way for all of us to step out of the house feeling proud of what we are wearing and this is simply because of how we are wearing our clothes. Grab those boots you never wear, search for that item in your wardrobe with the tag still on it. Change it up, and you will change your whole day I promise.

The Jacket

Lace Shrug: Simply Be
White Cut Out Dress: Boohoo
Croc Print Gold Clutch: Kaleidoscope
Sole Diva Ankle Strap Court Shoes: Simply Be

I truly believe that it makes no difference if you are a size 6 or a size 16, we all have the same choices to make in the morning about what we will look like for the day. So look amazing every day, ignore your bad hair or your unshaved legs, it doesn’t matter if you have the confidence which comes from the magic of your wardrobe!

The Shoes

Sole Diva Ankle Strap Court Shoes: Simply Be
Metallic Zip Crop & Pleated Skirt: Primark
Faux Fur Coat: Apricot

We each fell in love with these three pieces from the Simply Be collection, and we chose to rock it! Now will you?

See how Yasmine styles up her identical items very soon, I’ll be tweeting as soon as she does!

Three Week Journey with Esthechoc

Hey gang!!! I can’t believe that the holidays are over so quickly and we are yet again faced with another number, another year. I’m not going to do a reflective post on 2016, I am always looking forward far too much for that. So I have a lovely post all about chocolate that is good for you inside and out- call it a beauty chocolate miracle! Read on to find out about my three week journey with Esthechoc.

First things first, Esthechoc is a dark chocolate which acts as an anti-ageing supplement. If you want to go into a bit more of the science, the ingredients in the chocolate (Cocoa Polyphenols along with Astaxanthin) help to enhance microcirculation and support oxygen saturation. This is basically a huge antioxidant boost which we all know is what helps keep you looking fabulous and healthy.

I had the pleasure of attending an event at the D. Thomas clinic in Chelsea last year (wow how funny that 2016 is now last year!) and we got to try out the chocolate in many yummy forms!

Of course the chocolate at the event (and the Esthechoc three week supply) is gluten free and suitable for vegetarians too if you are curious.

It comes in a cute little box similar to After Eights- each chocolate is individualy wrapped and there are 21 in a box.  I’ve tried beauty supplements before in the form of pills and drinks but I found that it wasn’t for me. With Esthechoc, it is so easy to stick to the full 21 days because who doesn’t want a piece of chocolate every day? It’s like having an advent calendar all over agin!

I thought I would track my skin over the three week course so you can have a look…

I trialled my three week journey with Esthechoc from the 1st to the 21st December as I wanted to see results just in time for the Christmas festivities. I reallly do think that it has helped make my skin look more luminous and youthful since picking up a 38kcal piece every day to enjoy.

I don’t want to fool anyone into thinking that this will turn back clocks and wrinkles will be gone overnight, this isn’t for those wanting a quick fix. What the product does do however, is that it helps to actively support your skin’s nutrition to keep it looking at its best. Think of it as maintaining rather than reversing!

I would recommend that you try my three week journey with Esthechoc for yourself if you are feeling a fresh start to your skincare routine and diet in 2017. This is not a food supplement to replace meals with, it is for those seeking a bit of indulgence which is actually good for you. So no feeling guilty for grabbing a slice of beauty chocolate for the next three weeks!
