New to the scene: Shop Skincare

I am really delighted to announce that I will be working closely with a new website called Shop Skincare. I’m sure you’ve all heard of sites such as Beauty Bay, Look Fantastic and Feel Unique. I myself have used all these to purchase beauty products and have them delivered straight to my front door. So, why is Shop Skincare any different? There’s a very good reason why you should read on, as these guys, although new to the scene, know exactly how to treat us beauty obsessed! Shop Skincare offer a unique service where if you spend ¬£40 or more on their site, they will send you a gorgeous goody box filled with surprises! Not as a one off, not as a subscription service and not just your average gift box. This is how you are rewarded just by purchasing your usual beauty buys:

Akin
Cleansing Micellar Water

Akin are an Australian made and owned brand with some lovely cruelty free products. In my surprise box I received a cleansing micellar water with organic coconut water and green tea extract. It smells wonderful and it’s the perfect addition to a night time routine with hints of lavender to wind down the day.

Natura Siberica
Snow Cladonia Day Cream sample & Hand Cream

This hand cream is super luxurious and smells divine. The cranberry seed oil will have you sniffing the back of your hand for ages after use. If you’re into products using a combination of herbs and flowers then the Snow Cladonia Day Cream is one to try. It’s super absorbent and leaves the skin nicely moisturised and refreshed for a youthful glow.

Hollywood Browzer
Brow Shaper & Hair Remover

I was really intrigued about this product- at first I thought it was a brow grooming kit, but on closer inspection it was nothing I had ever tried or tested before. This is a brow and soft hair remover blade! You can use the blade at a 45 degree angle to quickly get rid of peach fuzz type hair (perfect for upper lip and chin) as well as shaping your brows.

This is a pain free method which needs no prep time such as soap or water, so if you find yourself showered, dressed and then you look down and catch a glimpse of that one really annoying stray leg hair, problem solved! I’ll be doing a video on my Instagram soon to demonstrate the Hollywood Browzer so make sure you’re following me!

Ultrasun
SPF 30 Family Sun Lotion

The great thing about this sun lotion is that it is perfume free. I can’t stand the way some sun lotions smell, and so this water resistant cream from Ultrasun is perfect. I find myself getting a slight sunburn in an hour’s drive as UVA rays can penetrate through car side windows. There is a constant need to protect my arms, neck and shoulders each time I get in the car, so I know that this will be going straight into my handbag!

Saaf Skincare
Pure Face Cleanser & Exfoliating Cloth

I was so excited to try this tester size face cleanser and cloth out from Saaf inside my Shop Skincare box. It smells amazing with the grapefruit peel oil just singing out the jar. The brand is also cruelty free!

So it’s well worth trying Shop Skincare out if you’re looking to buy conscious beauty products for hair, face, skin and body. Why wouldn’t you want to receive a free beauty box each time you shop too?! Stay tuned to find out more from what’s new to the scene and Shop Skincare ūüíč

Why not see what I got up to on my latest London adventure with F&F Clothing and Cancer Research UK!

Spending the day wisely with F+F and CRUK

This month has been a pretty slow month in terms of my blogging and attending events. Being in the third trimester has really had a huge impact on my days out in London as there are limits to how much I can and can’t do now. However, spending the day wisely with F+F and CRUK was 100% going to happen no matter what. F+F are the clothing brand at Tesco, and they have been working with Cancer Research UK in a variety of ways. This time, they kindly sent me plus three other bloggers for a day out and tour of one of the research facilities in London. First stop, brunch!

We met up with everyone at a lovely spot near Shepherds Bush called Mustard. It was so lovely to sit and chat with other bloggers as well as Karen who told us more about the partnership between Tesco F+F and CRUK. The 16-year partnership has now raised £40 million can you believe! This includes just under a million by having Tesco customers donate their unwanted clothes to local stores.

Over a coffee and dessert, I learnt about the Buy One, Donate One scheme, where an entire school uniform gets donated just by purchasing an item from the range.

So after a lovely brunch, we were on our way to the Imperial College for a tour of their CRUK centre.

We were given lab coats which made me feel right back to those school days in chemistry class. I always loved learning, so sitting down to listen to the vital research taking place was such a treat. The centre focuses on treatment innovation and the Imperial Research Centre is one of 18 experimental medical centres in the U.K.

Some quick but essential facts from the tour and talk:

  • 42% of cancers are preventable (mainly from lifestyle, environmental choices)
  • The average person takes 180 days from spotting the first symptom to visiting their GP- this is far too long!
  • In 1970, 1 in 4 people developed cancer
In the next 20 years, this number will be 3 in 4 people
  • It takes a huge amount of time to create cancer fighting drugs, but a very short amount of time for cancer to work out a way to beat the drug.¬†Early diagnosis is the key!

We took a tour with a researcher called Catriona. Her specialised area was understanding the link between type 2 diabetes and drug called metformin. She is hoping to find out why people taking this drug have a decreased chance of developing certain types of cancer. Each experiment is vital, yet we learned incredibly expensive to carry out!

Having lost my mother in law to cancer last year, just a few weeks after our wedding, I am fully on board with supporting all types of research that not only this facility carries out, but across the country nationwide. Statistics show that we all know someone or have lost someone ourselves to cancer, so I encourage you to do whatever you can to support.

I visited one of my local CRUK charity shops and donated a bunch of clothes which were just in my drawers and wardrobes not seeing any wear or love in years.

I want to thank the team behind the Imperial Research Centre and to Karen representing the F+F brand for inviting me along. Spending the day wisely with F+F and CRUK was a wonderfully insightful experience. I also want to thank you guys for reading this, and hope that today you appreciate everybody around you that little bit more who are happy, healthy and by your side.

See what I got in the Aldi Baby and Toddler Event this month!

My top five summer brands

My top five summer brands were a little hard to narrow down as you can imagine! It’s been a while since I’ve done a beauty related post as I’ve been trying a huge amount of new and wonderful products over the past few months. Skin and hair changes caused by pregnancy mean that it is such a good time to be trying new things, and I’ve got a bunch of super products here that will have you set from head to toe!

Sebamed

Sebamed is a really unique brand that I discovered this year and has been so great. All the products (hair and skin) have a pH level of 5.5 to match the value of our own skin- how cool! This means that it can help to restore the body’s natural balance whether you have dry or greasy skin and hair types. I’ve definitely found the shampoo and conditioner a real treat to use, my hair and skin being much drier throughout my pregnancy journey.

Bio-Essence

I’m sure that you can name a huge list of products you have at home right now when it comes to skincare if you are anything like me. I go through quite a lot of cleansers, toners, and moisturisers as it is a part of my daily routine, and has been since I was about 18. However, I have never tried a range of products quite like the Bio-Essence 24K bio-gold range before. There’s something about opening a jar of cream to discover that it has little golden pieces inside! These break down and absorb into the skin as soon as you start a circular motion so don’t worry, you won’t be left with a golden face! These products stay on the skin for hours and help it feel radiant and glowy.

Dorco Eve 6

I had grown tired of using the same old disposable razors and was ready to try something a bit different. Dorco razors have introduced their first female razor- the Dorco Eve 6- to their collections so I wanted to give this a try. The pack comes with the handle and 8 replacement blades, not to mention the packaging was stunning! I’m a sucker for great presentation so I loved opening the big box to discover little boxes inside.

Lansinoh

Now this may not be in your average beauty blogger’s makeup up station, but this has literally been a lifesaver this summer. I’ve never had any issue with dry or cracked nipples before, but this little gem has sorted everything out after only a few weeks of usage. I cannot recommend this highly enough, pregnant or not, if you have sore or chaffed nips!

Pro Blo

Lastly we come to this brush duo from Pro Blo. I discovered the brand after getting involved with an FBL Twitter chat and was kindly sent these products. I love the concept of the interchangeable heads, and the big roller brush makes it so easy to blowdry my hair. The smaller brush is so handy for separating my hair into sections with its super fab pointy end. If you’re in need of some great new hair tools then give these guys a try!

Thanks so much for reading about my top five summer brands. Let me know if you’re going to be trying any of these products out to freshen up your beauty routine!

Aldi Baby and Toddler Event

Today is the day!! Thursday 17th August is not just any old Thursday this week- the ever popular supermarket Aldi sees the return of its Baby and Toddler Event across the UK! I’m a huge follower of Facebook pages such as UK Baby Deals and Extreme Couponing which has helped me stay aware of many store events and sales. Returning for a third time this year, I have found an amazing selection of products and new launches on sale and hope that you like them!

So the Aldi Baby and Toddler event has been online for the past week, which meant that I have preordered a few things so as not to miss out. A lot of these are sold out now online BUT are available from within stores today…

Mamia Baby Snuggle Nest £19.99

This snuggle nest rivals the Poddle Pod, but the price tag is much nicer at just ¬£19.99. I cannot wait for it to arrive as I’ve seen a lot of mums use this type of support and they love it.

Dreambaby Back Seat Baby Mirror £9.99

This was definitely a last minute essential on my list, so I grabbed it while the stock was still available. This back seat mirror is great to stimulate baby when on long car journeys so they can interact with themselves and keep them occupied!

Penguin Hooded Towel and Mitt £2.99

I just love anything penguin related as the colour scheme goes so well with my neutral theme. At just ¬£2.99 for a hooded towel and mitt you can’t go wrong.

Avent Baby Soothers £2.79

I haven’t made my mind up about soothers yet. I guess each baby is different so we will just have to see how things go. But it’s nice to have the option there if necessary or required after a sleepless night at 5am! These ones are translucent, but there are lots of colours and sizes to choose from.

Nuby Steam n Mash Set

Now I can’t find these online anymore, but if you like the look of the bowls then head down to your local Aldi for a browse! They have lots of Nuby sets for feeding and these steam n mash bowls look like so much fun!

I’d love to hear if you are an Aldi Baby and Toddler Event veteran or if your’e a first time mum like me looking for some great last minute deals!

Feet are still visible for now!

More bump cuteness over on my latest fashion post- Being Nautical in Ipswich Suffolk

Being Nautical in Ipswich Suffolk

With a love for so many things, it’s a good job I can use my blog to cover all sorts of topics. This blog post, Being Nautical in Ipswich Suffolk, is all about the weekend just gone. I had my number one blogger babe Yasmine come visit me in Ipswich to hang out and of course, take some photos. We ended up having a lovely Saturday afternoon forecast, so to the waterfront we went! This was Yasmine’s first time exploring Ipswich so I thought I would take her, along with a very statement wardrobe piece, to the marina.

Isaacs is a really popular destination on weekends for locals and tourists so we started out there for some lunch.

After, we took all of our things, plus a gluten free strawberry cheesecake to go, and set out to get some great content! Thanks so much to Yasmine and my sister for helping me on some of the shots. Being 32 weeks pregnant meant quite a slow walk back to the car, but all the better chance to stop and start posing!

So, details of my ‘being nautical’ ensemble…

Dress: Asos Maternity
Shoes: Zara
Bag: Juicy Couture via Trendlistr

The whole outfit was inspired by being nautical, and mainly focused around this gorgeous accessory. This sexy bag is a vintage Juicy Couture item from Trendlistr* and as soon as I saw it I fell head over heels for it. To tell you the truth, this is actually a makeup bag, but I couldn’t just leave it at home when the marina called!

It has such stunning detail, I know I’ll be using it as often as I can as it really is one of the most interesting items in my wardrobe for this season.

If you love this bag as much as I do, you have to go and check out more vintage gems via the Trendlistr website here. Not only can you buy, but you can also sell if you have some unloved vintage pieces lying around your bedroom!

Thanks so much to Lou at Trendlistr for this collaboration, I hope to see more bloggers being nautical too!
