Splashes of Colour for Summer

Summer has been so on and off in the UK so far this year. We’ve had everything from record-breaking highs to hailstorms and flooding recently. The aim of this post is to ignore what the weather is doing outside, beacause hey, it’s July! We want to wear clothes that make us feel summery even though the view outside our bedroom window might not reflect that. But there’s nothing from stopping us wearing splashes of colour for summer in our clothes and accesories! I’ve picked the perfect brand to show you how you can dress for summer whatever the weather!

Iceberg the brand launched in 1974, and started out by creating lines inspired by sportswear for everyday wear. Nowadays Iceberg is known worldwide for its quirky, colourful pop art pieces, and here are my top picks:

Iceberg Pineapple co-ord set

This set is just fabulous if you want to make a colourful statement. No one else will have this as it’s so unique, and it is reminiscent of that chic, 60’s look!

Iceberg Knee Length Skirt

It’s so easy to dress this colourful skirt with a white, black or blue shirt. A lot of people go for colour on the top instead of the bottom so break the mould and be bold! iceberg-knee-length-skirt_1_2

Iceberg Striped Belt

For a smaller budget and a smaller waistline in the process, add this little splash of colour to any monochrome outfit to brighten up your day. It also works well with a blue or purple too.

Iceberg Double Clutch

I’ve never seen anything like this before. This isn’t just one clutch, it’s two! Strapped together by one chain, this clutch is perfect for adding a little zing to your summer outfit!

Iceberg Mickey Mouse Pullover

Disney fan? This pullover is just the one for you then. The tiny bit of yellow just makes all the difference, so if you’re not ready for full on colours then I’d go for this one!

Iceberg Applique Sandals

Okay so I know you can’t really wear these if it’s pouring with rain outside, but I just had to include them in my splashes of colour for summer post. Aren’t they adorable?! I would wear these with an A-line skirt and collared shirt for a sophisticated look, or for festival vibes I’d go with shorts, a crop and a kimono!

The complete Iceberg collection is available on Gilmarlab, a luxury online boutique which is just insane. They are an Italian based company who stock designers including No. 21, Paolo Pecora and Siviglia as well as Iceberg. I’d describe the collections as high-end but ready-to-wear and the Iceberg brand really called to me above all others for this colourful feature.

Visit the Iceberg shop online now to see all the pieces I’ve featured in this Splashes of Colour for Summer post, why not splash out a little and get that one colourful piece your wardrobe is definitely missing. You will feel unique, stylish and of course colourful with any of the pieces shown above!

Bloggers Hangout Summer Heatwave

Another month, another fabulous Bloggers Hangout event. This time the location was Charing Cross and the venue was The Strand Gallery. I had been looking forward to this as I do every BH event. Danielle (the founder) always goes the extra mile and certainly puts on one hell of a shindig for the bloggers as well as the brands attending. The Bloggers Hangout Summer Heatwave (as I am calling it) was a 3-day extravaganza of which I managed to attend 2 days. I can’t wait to give you all the juicy details about my fav brands there and who I went with!

On the first day, I went with a lovely blogger called Kendra. She is an American blogger over in London for a few months so we met up and I showed her just how amazing being a blogger in London can be! It was so hot in the venue we both were glad we wore summery dresses!

We visited KB Hair and took this epic snap, KB Hair Extensions had some lovely colours to show us, including grey!

Sass and Belle, a homeware brand with so many lovely things, had a chat with us and talked us through their range of amazing summer products. I adore my pineapple cup which I featured in my Karma Cola post!

GLEE008-PINE

We met a fabulous nail wrap designer who was displaying her amazing collection of Dinkibelle wraps. I can’t wait to try mine out and show you!

The Perfume Shop was located downstairs at the venue and they had the most amazing display of all their favourite fragrances old and new. My absolute favourite of the day was Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb, it’s to die for! Floral fragrances and the stunning setup definitely had me in the summer mood at the Bloggers Hangout Summer Heatwave!

Onto Day Two. This time I took with me my best blogger bud Merrell-Ann from TrousseauDiaries to explore some more!

We met Pink Parcel who are a fabulous brand helping girls from all over with their ‘Classic Period Drama’ It’s a monthly subcription service to help us girls through our stressful times every 28 days and they include not only femenine products but makeup, skincare products and best of all- chocolate!Bloggers Hangout Summer Heatwave-6 Bloggers Hangout Summer Heatwave-3

I met with Faust’s Potions on the 2nd day who were just great. They have come up with some lovely remedies to help wake you up in the morning (which tastes like orange juice) and also they have one to help relax you before bed at night time. I’ll be fully reviewing these products on the blog very soon so not going to give away anything else!

Bloggers Hangout Summer Heatwave-10

Regenerate were great to see at the event, they are a dental care company who have created products which help to restore your enamel. I must say I’ve been using the toothpaste for just over a week now and there is no sensitivity anymore when I eat cold things which is wonderful. I will definitely keep you all posted on how I progress with the advanced toothpaste and boosting serum.

Bloggers Hangout Summer Heatwave-9

I also took some shots of three gorgeous bloggers wearing DaSilva London clothing outside the venue. It’s the perfect spot for a blogger to stop and take some photos if you don’t want to trek all the way to Kensington!

Two Great Skin Savers for Summer

Since starting my journey as a full time blogger, I’ve been going non-stop to bring you the best fashion, beauty and London lifestyle. These last few weeks have definitely taught me that I need to use my time wisely if I am going to make a successful longterm career from being a blogger. A lot of people have been saying that it must be great to not have to get up and go to work in the mornings, but that just isn’t true. I get up at the exact same time as I did before to start work off as early as possible. I seize each day as I am very aware that every single day counts. So this post is all about being conscious of time and I have Two Great Skin Savers for Summer to show you which I’m obsessing over right now!

These two products are from a brand called Time Bomb. Their slogan is: ‘We can’t stop time, but we can change how it shows on your face’. It’s something that we are all after am I right? Products which defy the natural order of things and that help to maintain our youthfulness for as long as we can. As a beauty blogger, I was so impressed with Time Bomb so here’s my Two Great Skin Savers for Summer.

Time Bomb Complexion Cocktail with a shot of Chlorophyll

IMG_2700

This product smells like fresh, lush greenery as soon as the cap is open. This is great for me as an allergy sufferer, if I actually take a whiff of freshly cut grass I’m a sneezing mess! The Complexion Cocktail with a shot of chlorophyll is designed to detox your skin and create a smooth and renewed complexion. I use this every day and my skin is left feeling so soft and perky! This is a definite must for sun seekers and those who want a quick and easy way to get back to fresh and healthy skin.

Time Bomb Cosmetics holiday in a bottle

IMG_2711

This is such a star product I cannot recommend it enough. It’s adorable size makes it perfect for on-the-go commuters who want a radiant boost to their complexion. This holiday in a bottle isn’t a tanner or a foundation, this is a pigmented cream which changes colour as you apply to give you a perfect ‘just got back from the beach’ glow.

Just look how this product changes my pale hand into a bronzed beauty!

These Two Great Skin Savers for Summer go hand in hand, and I am confidently looking ahead to the future with Time Bomb in my bag and a smile on my face.

Drink No Evil Karma Cola

I was immediately drawn to Karma Cola drinks not just for their great design, but also because of the story that goes with the brand. Drink No Evil Karma Cola is all about doing good and enjoying some great drinks in the process. The brand currently has three amazing beverages for all walks of life, and I am in love with all of them! Let me tell you a bit more about them…

DSC_0254

The Karma Cola foundation aims to produce fizzy drinks which stand for a cause. Every drink purchased helps a village in Sierra Leone, Africa and the proceeds help to support a number of Sierra Leonean communities by maintaining local areas to sending young people to school.

DSC_0205

Flavour 1- The original Karma Cola

This is made from a cola nut (yes cola comes from a nut!) all the way from Sierra Leone. It has a unique blend including ginger and lemons which makes for a thirst quenching delight.

DSC_0242

Flavour 2- Lemony!

This is a great mix of organic lemons and fair-trade sugar cane which makes the farmers smile. It makes its drinkers smile too as the lemon bursts out and hits all those taste buds.

DSC_0228

Flavour 3- Gingerella

Gingerella is perfect for those wanting a fiery taste. It is quite strong and bursting with notes of vanilla and ginger.

Pour and Enjoy!

Here are some more shots courtesy of my sister Evie. You should get in touch with her here if you are needing a blogger photoshoot! She captured the drinks in action, which I’m sure you agree look so tempting during the hot summer season! We chilled the drinks before pouring each for a clean and refreshing taste…

So good in more ways than one- don’t forget that the more drinks Karma Cola sells, the more help they can do! Why not join the Drink no Evil Karma Cola campaign and host a great BBQ with some amazing drinks for July?! These drinks are available to purchase at Waitrose right now

News for July!

It’s July! And it’s crazy hot here in London today- temperatures are soaring upwards of 30 degrees in this heat wave and I’m at work in a gladly air conditioned office!

So, I thought I would let you all know some exciting news happening this month and throughout the summer-

I am in the preliminary stages of setting up my own management company for Petite Models!

The company will be called Petite Model management and I am so thrilled to be working with some amazing petite models over July and August for test shoots!

I feel really passionate about the industry of fashion and modelling, and have seen for a long time now that there is a huge gap in the market for petites. Of course some agencies do have a petite range of models, but this is disproportionate to the majority of models on their books, nor is there an actual UK based agency specifically for petites. So this is what I will be focusing on trying to create this year!

If you are under 5”7 and this is something you would love to know more about please get in touch! I am welcoming all ages and ethnicities to come and test shoot with me in London for free this summer!

Also if you are a MUA or designer and are looking to collaborate with a bunch of petite beauties, also please get in touch!

I hope that this will grow into something big through word of mouth and through social media- at the moment I have a twitter set up and once I have selected my models from the test shoots I will be setting up a website!

Any comments or willing participants, share the word that petite is fierce and we are coming to get you!

Travel guide to Dubai

I’m not sure how a country can be so relaxing yet be so vibrant and exciting at the same time. But somehow Dubai did it.

img_5202

This was a great holiday from start to finish, and let me tell you it was a great start to be flying business class for the first time! We were on the friends and family list due to our gracious host in Dubai being a pilot for Emirates. When we got to Gatwick we were directed to premium check- in and security (which I never knew existed), and words cannot describe the flight. I hardly noticed the 6 and a half hour journey out as I spent most of it ‘knocked out!’ – I blame the mattress and horizontal bed experience. Having a personal minibar helped too 🙂

So… The holiday

img_5371

Much like most of my holidays, I think I spent the month running up to it in full pack-attack mode. I created a holiday inspiration Pinterest board which you can find here: (https://uk.pinterest.com/Saharasplash/holiday-inspo-dubai/) I had a lot of fun putting together outfits that were both concealing enough for Arabic culture, yet free flowing and airy enough that I wouldn’t combust or melt in the 40 degree heat.

img_5381

2 malls I recommend are the Emirates Mall (where you can go skiing in their indoor slopes!) and the Dubai Mall. Both have every shop imaginable and the food courts are fulfilling in every way- take a visit to P F Changs at the Emirates Mall and elevation burger in the Dubai Mall.

img_5320

Last time I visited Dubai I did the Atlantis water park, this time I ventured to Wild Wadi. Although this is smaller it is a lot less crowded. I think there were about 80 people in the whole park when it opened at 10, and only started to get busy when we left at 2. This was quite a memorable day as while watching a well built man doing the wave machine I suddenly realised that it was in fact Jensen Ackles from Supernatural… in swimming trunks and nothing else…so a hot day! Side note- check out my awesome monogrammed bikini from H&M! They were doing it for free in Oxford Circus so I had to get it!

img_5474

img_5499

lucky enough to visit the Cayan Tower on our travels round the city- picture below. This building twists one degree for every floor, so by the time you are on the 90th floor and look down you are facing a different side! We went to take a peak off one of our friends balconies and the view of the marina was just stunning.

img_5539

Dragonmart was the last activity of the trip. It’s a market that is shaped like a dragon, the rooftop tiles are scale-like and it goes on for miles. Go visit the Dragonmart (http://www.dragonmart.ae) for anything and everything- literally! Clothes, gadgets, electric goods and the kitchen sink!

Like all good holidays, they come to a close just as soon as they begin, but I have some great memories of Dubai this year and hopefully some great photos too that will keep me going till my next venture 🙂
