Baby Essentials, preparing for baby

Now that my pregnancy has been announced on social media and on my Dubai holiday vlog, I am finally ready to start a new chapter. This chapter, much like all others on my blog, will be a unique and special addition, but by no means will completely define it. I am absolutely thrilled to be having a baby, but I still want my blog to represent who I am and be appealing for all types of readers. Fashion, beauty, film, travel, gluten free living and now another piece of the puzzle- parenthood. So, time to share an exciting look into some of my baby essentials, preparing for baby.

Baby Groups

I’ve found a really good way to start getting prepared for the arrival is by joining some baby groups. They are super quick to sign up to and I love receiving updates in my inbox every week that provide expert information and support. I am a member of the C&G baby club, My Mothercare and BabyCentre.

For the Hospital

I’ve been getting ready for the hospital and first few weeks by watching many YouTube videos. These are super handy to watch what other mothers are packing so you get a really good idea of what will be needed. I had no idea it was so much! My top favourite video was this one by Emily Norris: https://youtu.be/CCW_9a__LKk

Sleep Essentials

This week I attended an expectant parent event at my local Mothercare. I picked up a swaddling blanket after learning about them, and think that it will be a great addition to my baby essentials bundle!

Skincare for Baby

It’s going to be so lovely welcoming the new arrival into our home and lives, and so I’m gathering some essential skincare items suitable for newborn skin and hair. Included in this is the top-to-toe baby bath* from Johnson’s. This baby bath is proven to be as mild as water on baby’s skin so a super duper essential for skincare!

Skincare for me

It can be really easy to forget about yourself when growing another human. There are times when the struggle is real-  I’ve been through the first trimester sickness, increased hay fever, severe back pain and there’s still a good way to go! So mum’s to be, please don’t forget about you and take the time to enjoy the moments in the day when you can get them. This stretch mark defence spray from Science of Skin* has been amazing. I had tried several oils on my skin but didn’t like the residue it left afterwards. This simple spray on oil completely absorbs into my skin so I can spray, rub and go!

No stretch marks in sight!

Sneak peek into the wardrobe

Although I know the sex of the baby (and only me) I have always wanted a neutral wardrobe for the most part. This is obviously essential so that my family and husband don’t find out the sex, but I really am excited by the tones in baby’s wardrobe already! I’ll be throwing in some red, orange, green and yellow too, just no pink, purple or blue!

A Sweet Affair with RosieBea

So the day after I get back from Dubai, I am off out to an event. I actually didn’t get any jetlag from the plane, so I was up and ready to go for this wonderful sunny day. You may know the YouTube sensation MsRosieBea, she has over 200,000 subscribers and is only 18! She is a great inspiration and works really hard at what she does. It was no surprise that Elegant Touch and Eylure collaborated with her on this amazing new collection for Superdrug- and I want to tell you all about how it was such a sweet affair with RosieBea for her launch party.

The Loft at Lumiere London was so beautifully decorated, RosieBea’s collection of Elegant Touch Nails and Eylure Lashes were on display all around the space with spring flowers.

There was a huge cart full of sweet treats, chocolates and macarons which all had the sweet designs from Rosie which mirror all the different aspects of her personality. I love the colours and style of the new collection, it’s very fresh and different to anything else I’ve seen on nails before.

The drinks were perfectly coordinated with the spring theme- strawberry milkshakes, prosecco and strawberry lemonade!

Rosie gave a little talk and thanked us all for being there, she was so sweet!

I also saw my friend Vicki from VickisBeauty at the evet! Photo courtesy of Jasmine from Soeursdeluxe, who was also there for the event!

I’m wearing checkered jeans from Uniqlo and a crop from Boohoo.com.

I really loved the chilled out atmosphere as there weren’t a lot of bloggers there. It was great to take a look around at all the collections on display, and I even had my nails and lashes done too! I got the lashes in ‘Kitsch’ and the ‘Molten’ nails below!

I want to thank Eylure, Elegant Touch and of course the YouTuber herself for such a sweet affair with RosieBea- it was the perfect welcome back from holiday and and I can’t wait to try out some more from the range! Shop the collection here and follow the hashtag #ROSIEBEAuty for all the latest news!

Blonde Hair Pale Skin – an incredible night!

I really have had an incredible few weeks recently with blogging. I have been to so many wonderful events and also had some fabulous experiences too. This post is all about blonde hair and pale skin as I visit RUSH hair and beauty salon and attend Em Ford’s fan event at YouTube headquarters all in one night.

I recently went to RUSH on Piccadilly Circus to have my hair done and after the incredible results I really wanted to do something with them again. RUSH have opened a brand new salon in West Hampstead and so I was invited along to their opening week to get my hair done. I tied this in with a very exciting event hosted by Em Ford of My Pale Skin Blog.
After work I headed to the new RUSH salon, it’s a 5 minute walk from West Hampstead station so really easy to get to. The salon is brand new and so classy. It is fresh and open  with plenty of space. I was greeted by the staff who took my coat and we discussed what style and treatment I was going to have. We decided on loose waves to go with my glam dress.

The hair wash and treatment using the Kerastase products was divine. The treatment was massaged gently into my scalp, such a relaxing feeling! After this my hair was curled using the roll and pin technique. This gives the hair extra volume and bounce.

I had a lovely green tea, sadly no chocolate as it’s not gluten free, but RUSH really do go above and beyond when it comes to your appointment.

Fluffed, prepped and dried I was ready to hit the city just in time for Em Ford’s fan event!

I was so thrilled to get an invitation to this event, I love Em and My Pale Skin Blog so this was turning into a very special night.
I arrived at YouTube space London just in time to get to Em’s Q and A where she answered all our questions about her blog and her skin progress. It was great to see her and how far she has come from such hard work. She is a real inspiration to the blogging I want to do and so I am looking to get stuck in and start doing some makeup and beauty videos on my YouTube channel very soon!

After Em’s Q and A I headed over to the makeup station. Guests could have their hair, nails and makeup done so of course I had to do my makeup!

I met a lovely mua called Aine, she did such a fab job, and here are the results!

It really was an incredible night which I won’t forget thanks to RUSH and Em, and to finish off here is a quick bathroom selfie!
