The Real Greek Lunch

Just two weeks after my last day at my office job, I found myself heading for Westfield Shepherd’s Bush at 1 o clock on a Friday afternoon. I was so excited as this was to be my first blogger’s lunch and boy was I in for a treat! I’m sure you have all seen one of The Real Greek restaurants if you are local to London, there are 9 in total and I was about to experience The Real Greek Lunch celebrating the launch of their new book. This inspired cookbook is written by the restaurant’s consultant and expert in all things Greek- Tonia Buxton.  I was so surprised when the menus came round to see the incredible variety of things which I could eat as a coeliac. Over half the menu is gluten free and so I was thrilled to see what was going to be brought to us, ordered all by Tonia who looked after us so well.

It was lovely to meet the Blink Publishing team along with Tonia herself and a handful of bloggers too. It was great to chat blogging and food while we waited for our starters to arrive.

The Real Greek Lunch-4

We tried pretty much everything from the starter menu, my favourite was the Melitzanosalata, an aubergine dish which I have recreated in my own kitchen and photos are at the end so you can see!

The Real Greek Lunch-2

We tried a range of wonderful mains too, a lot of the fish I didn’t eat just because I’m not a fan of things from the sea, but the others certainly enjoyed the dishes.

I had the most amazing greek salad and chicken skewers with peppers. The stand out dish for me was a vegetarian dish called Gigandes Plaki. Giant beans in a tomato sauce went down a treat.

Speaking of treats, I tried something new which I had never even considered to be a dessert until this was put in front of me. It looked like yoghurt and mushrooms, but Tonia explained that it was candied walnuts. I tried one and fell in love!

The Real Greek Lunch-10

The sweet nut paired with the greek yoghurt was so moreish, it was lucky we were sharing this as I would have eaten the entire thing.

The tea was also a big hit, it’s a herbal blend called Greek Mountain tea and was so good, I have been back since just for this alone!

The Real Greek Lunch-9

What I discovered at The Real Greek Lunch, aside from the amazing tastes, was a new found repsect for Greek culture and the great importance food has for it. I loved how simple the dishes were and how we shared them out to try a bit of everything- this is definitely something I will be going back to with friends and family to show them the way of the Greeks!

As promised, here is a little something I cooked recently using The Real Greek cookbook. The Melitzanosalata recipe on p29 was so simple and easy to follow, I made the most amazing accompaniment that gave my turkey steaks and quinoa rice the perfect zing!

Dragonfly Tea Brings Harmony

Tea is a wonderful thing. I’m sure most of you all will have a relationship with tea, however weak or strong, and I’ve got some wonderful new products to show you! Dragonfly Tea are a longstanding British tea company who have just released a selection of green teas which are just fabulous. These aren’t your ordinary green teas though, so for those of you who don’t like the traditional taste of a green tea and who find it too bitter, these are perfect for you! I took the green teas with me to my mum’s flat on the Ipswich Marina to relax and unwind after a very busy week. This is how Dragonfly Tea Brings Harmony to my life:

The flat is such a great place to come and take some time out to relax. It’s so refreshing and quiet where you can watch the people come and go from the balcony, or you can cosy up in the lounge or bedroom for a great night in.  I took all three boxes of my Dragonfly Tea with me-

Citrus Green

Citrus Green is so refreshing and zingy, the extra kick of lemon in green tea is my absolute favourite. It’s perfect as a palette cleanser as well as a great way to purify and detox at the same time. I always feel great after I have a lemon green tea, and it really helps me to drink more water as I find it really difficult to drink water straight up.

Pure Green

For those green tea enthusiasts who care for the original taste. Pure Green has a wonderful flavour which I love about green tea. I love to sip this in the afternoon which helps me stay energised and keeps me going until dinner time!

Berry Green

I tried Berry Green last and this ended up being such a nice surprise. A lot of teas who claim to taste of berries are really disappointing and don’t really taste much of anything, but this is definitely not the case with Dragonfly’s brew. It is bursting with lovely berry tones which I fell in love with. This is the drink I decided to take most of my shots with as I didn’t want to put the cup down!

I even had my mum involved as we sat together on the balcony on the sun bed!

Colour me crazy with Joe Browns

I am really excited to show you all this latest collaboration with Joe Browns. Joe Browns are a lovely company who I have wanted to work with on a project since attending their blogger’s event based around their funfair collection last year. Joe Browns really do the most amazing campaigns and I was lucky enough to join in on this one for their #JBholidaywardrobe project where we had to take the most bright and colourful photos we could. In London, this was a piece of cake! Enjoy colour me crazy with Joe Browns!

I really wanted to get a beautiful array of colours to match the stunning print of my favourite piece- the Tropical Jersey Pants:

I took them out with me to go on a bit of wedding planning with Paul in the country!

We then went on a trip closer to home for these great backdrops. Locations are from Bethnal Green all the way to Whitechapel and then back to Canning Town:

I love how soft the pants are, and they come with the most important thing- pockets! I then took them all the way home to do even more colourful shots against blue and red:

I need to thank my sister for lending me the coolest slip ons which went with the pants so well! I love how the shoes really work together with the pants for a colour me crazy vibe- just perfect for festival and holiday seasons which are just around the corner. I then ended up going to a whole new level of crazy for these last shots- taken against our spare room blinds with me standing on my head!

I think they came out really well against the fluffy red pattern, though I don’t recommend you do this with your holiday wardrobe pieces!

I hope you enjoyed my colour me crazy piece with Joe Browns as the star of the show. I hope to work with them agains on similar projects, as they really are a company you can get creative with just like this.
