Splashes of Colour for Summer

Summer has been so on and off in the UK so far this year. We’ve had everything from record-breaking highs to hailstorms and flooding recently. The aim of this post is to ignore what the weather is doing outside, beacause hey, it’s July! We want to wear clothes that make us feel summery even though the view outside our bedroom window might not reflect that. But there’s nothing from stopping us wearing splashes of colour for summer in our clothes and accesories! I’ve picked the perfect brand to show you how you can dress for summer whatever the weather!

Iceberg the brand launched in 1974, and started out by creating lines inspired by sportswear for everyday wear. Nowadays Iceberg is known worldwide for its quirky, colourful pop art pieces, and here are my top picks:

Iceberg Pineapple co-ord set

This set is just fabulous if you want to make a colourful statement. No one else will have this as it’s so unique, and it is reminiscent of that chic, 60’s look!

Iceberg Knee Length Skirt

It’s so easy to dress this colourful skirt with a white, black or blue shirt. A lot of people go for colour on the top instead of the bottom so break the mould and be bold! iceberg-knee-length-skirt_1_2

Iceberg Striped Belt

For a smaller budget and a smaller waistline in the process, add this little splash of colour to any monochrome outfit to brighten up your day. It also works well with a blue or purple too.

Iceberg Double Clutch

I’ve never seen anything like this before. This isn’t just one clutch, it’s two! Strapped together by one chain, this clutch is perfect for adding a little zing to your summer outfit!

Iceberg Mickey Mouse Pullover

Disney fan? This pullover is just the one for you then. The tiny bit of yellow just makes all the difference, so if you’re not ready for full on colours then I’d go for this one!

Iceberg Applique Sandals

Okay so I know you can’t really wear these if it’s pouring with rain outside, but I just had to include them in my splashes of colour for summer post. Aren’t they adorable?! I would wear these with an A-line skirt and collared shirt for a sophisticated look, or for festival vibes I’d go with shorts, a crop and a kimono!

The complete Iceberg collection is available on Gilmarlab, a luxury online boutique which is just insane. They are an Italian based company who stock designers including No. 21, Paolo Pecora and Siviglia as well as Iceberg. I’d describe the collections as high-end but ready-to-wear and the Iceberg brand really called to me above all others for this colourful feature.

Visit the Iceberg shop online now to see all the pieces I’ve featured in this Splashes of Colour for Summer post, why not splash out a little and get that one colourful piece your wardrobe is definitely missing. You will feel unique, stylish and of course colourful with any of the pieces shown above!

Colour me crazy with Joe Browns

I am really excited to show you all this latest collaboration with Joe Browns. Joe Browns are a lovely company who I have wanted to work with on a project since attending their blogger’s event based around their funfair collection last year. Joe Browns really do the most amazing campaigns and I was lucky enough to join in on this one for their #JBholidaywardrobe project where we had to take the most bright and colourful photos we could. In London, this was a piece of cake! Enjoy colour me crazy with Joe Browns!

I really wanted to get a beautiful array of colours to match the stunning print of my favourite piece- the Tropical Jersey Pants:

I took them out with me to go on a bit of wedding planning with Paul in the country!

We then went on a trip closer to home for these great backdrops. Locations are from Bethnal Green all the way to Whitechapel and then back to Canning Town:

I love how soft the pants are, and they come with the most important thing- pockets! I then took them all the way home to do even more colourful shots against blue and red:

I need to thank my sister for lending me the coolest slip ons which went with the pants so well! I love how the shoes really work together with the pants for a colour me crazy vibe- just perfect for festival and holiday seasons which are just around the corner. I then ended up going to a whole new level of crazy for these last shots- taken against our spare room blinds with me standing on my head!

I think they came out really well against the fluffy red pattern, though I don’t recommend you do this with your holiday wardrobe pieces!

I hope you enjoyed my colour me crazy piece with Joe Browns as the star of the show. I hope to work with them agains on similar projects, as they really are a company you can get creative with just like this.

The Motel Edit- 5 reasons to shop the slip this season

I have been really bad at sharing the Motel love since I started blogging- I think that this is down to their sample sales being just at the end of each season. I’m not blaming them one bit for bad timing, I understand that they do the sample sales when they need to, but I always come away with so much stuff and can never post about it because the season changes so fast!

So I thought I would decide to write about my fav picks from the site and write all about the slip dress instead! My Motel summer goodies are now packed away for next year, but that doesn’t mean I can’t share my love for Motel right now…

I have been browsing their site this weekend as usual, and I am really inspired by their unique sense of style and fabulous prints. I do think that they set themselves apart from other popular online stores with their items, and one cut in particular caught my eye…the slip.

If you know me and my wardrobe, you will know that I don’t like to wear the same thing twice- and so this is why I love Motel so much. I know that if I like a certain shape dress, I can go to Motel and they will hook me up in ten ways I had never thought of contemplating. You know that you won’t be caught out wearing the same outfit that the girl on the tube is wearing too (cough H&M)  which is really important.

So why the slip? The slip is something that I’ve not been seeing round lately. Its understated elegance is just what your wardrobe needs and paired with Motel’s excellent patterns and colours, the slip dress will have heads turning in your direction at any party. I’ve decided to pick 4 slip dresses which are absolute killers and also a faux fur crop jacket which you can wear with all 4 of them.

1-    The Flash Cecile slip

Flash Cecile Motel slip dress

This slip immediately caught my eye with its sexy pattern in warm metallic tones. I can imagine wearing this to a few events I have lined up this season and certainly has the wow factor I want when on the hunt for something glitzy and glamorous.

2-    The Gaia slip

Gaia slip dress Motel

The Gaia dress has a more urban feel to it, less showy but still amazing with its warm colours. I think it doesn’t matter if it’s cold outside, you can still wear a floral slip and be cool for the winter. I’d imagine wearing this to a nice meal out with friends and family, but still keeping my fashion blogger vibes in tact 🙂

3-    The Meadow slip

Now this is a real showstopper for all you mermaid fans out there. It is an amazing green/blue which I’m guessing would look fab on a dance floor! Get your heels out for this one, and if you don’t have any nights out planned then buy this dress and make some! I would match my eyes to this dress colour for sure.

4-    The Vince slip by Grace Neutral

Grace Neutral dress Motel

I had the pleasure of attending the Grace Neutral collection launch party with the Motel Family group, and I absolutely loved her designs. The material is flowy and light- I tried the Kato Kimono on and didn’t want to take it off! Using the same Mandala print, Grace has designed this slip to suit her style and the Motel audience are eating it up. Just last week I saw a blogger at the Boohoo Xmas party wearing this so the pieces are selling well. I would wear this to any blogger event to get the conversation started with other bloggers about Grace Neutral- you know other bloggers will be asking about it!

5-    The Freya fur jacket

Freya fur jacket Motel

I wanted to tie all 4 of my choices together with a jacket that you could purchase for any of the slips. This charcoal Freya cropped jacket will look amazing on top of any of the slips, it’s short enough to show off your dress at the bottom if you’re too cold to take it off, and I think this jacket is a real solid winter jacket that would go just as well with jeans and a tee for more causal days.

Ps- right now this jacket is on sale right now better than 50% off! It’s reduced from £55 to £25 so what are you waiting for?!

Pps- enter the code 10OFFTODAY for an additional 10% off! you’re welcome
