Husband Takeover- five ways to look sharp

It’s time for yet another husband takeover on the blog! These posts always do really well, and I think I’ve said this before but there really isn’t enough hype to represent the males in the blogging community. I know my husband isn’t a male blogger, but he sure loves acting like one during our photoshoots. We’ve put together a little post on five ways to look sharp, so dressing for the Monday to Friday week in the big city.

Monday

Mondays are always the hardest right? It’s the start of a brand new week and this is probably the day people are going to make most of an effort. The shirt is pressed, tie is on and ultimately you want to start the week out right. Paul is wearing blue trousers with a pink shirt from Dobell paired with a striped tie. Men’s workwear is all about the blue and pink right now, I see it everywhere!

Tuesday

Tuesday’s child is said to be full of grace, so we’ve upped our style game with a smart jacket, also from Dobell. Grey trousers and blue hints from this shirt and suit combo is guaranteed to turn heads as you prepare for a morning of important meetings in the office.

Wednesday

Wednesday is set to be a warm one, so we’ve opted for a short sleeve shirt that still is smart but practical too. Wednesday is a great day to change up your hairstyle, have a shave and really create a different look.

Thursday

It’s almost the weekend, but not quite there yet. We’ve gone back to our trusty pink shirt but made it less formal by losing the tie. Everyone is gearing up for dress down Friday, so why not get ahead of the game and start a little early?! Maybe unbutton that top button too!

Friday

We made it! Now Friday is a day most people working a 9-5 rejoice, especially if you have the freedom to dress down. Paul still wants to maintain his sharp sense of style so he has picked out a simple grey tee from BoohooMAN and a snazzy bomber jacket from Idle Man. Paul can walk into the office with confidence and professionalism, however show that he has a younger, cooler side as well, despite the grey hair!

We hope you loved this husband takeover- five ways to look sharp. Make this week a banger and dress to impress your co-workers, you never know what opportunities await you with a fresh looking wardrobe.

Husband Takeover Spring Wardrobe Wishlist

He’s back! It’s time for another husband takeover on the blog. Paul is needing a major wardrobe clearout this season, so it’s out with all the tatty shirts and in with some fab new pieces. We’ve been browsing Terraces Menswear who supply some of our favourite premium brands all in one place. Keep on reading to see Paul’s choices for this husband takeover Spring wardrobe wishlist!

Here are a few things from the Ellesse Collection we are loving…

This yellow Berto Jacket from Ellesse is £50 and a great Spring staple. Yellow is a great colour which will always be in fashion this time of year and the half zip detail is really unique for a jacket like this.

The Meda Tshirt from the Ellesse collection is just £25, and just simple, effortless daywear. The signature Ellesse style is perfect when paired with jeans, crops, chinos or shorts this Spring.

Then we have the Volo sports cap. It’s a signature look and also a smart decision to get investing in some great headwear for Spring now that the UVA/UVB is starting to climb. Protect yourself in style with a white cap- this one’s just £18!

If you are looking for a more subtle cap to wear out and about, this Fred Perry piqué cap in marl grey is the one for you. It would go perfectly with the tshirt above and really bring out the light grey tones- if you have green or blue eyes then this one’s a winner.

We all love a bit of baby blue, and this is again from Fred Perry. It’s got a £40 price tag and comes with ribbed crew neck and cuffs to match. It’s a great neckline and the perfect way to get those guns out, Spring-ready or not!

Eyes down now, let’s talk about shoes. Shoes are a real sore point when it comes to Paul and I. Of course I am bound to have more shoes than Paul, but at the moment even Alice has more shoes than him! He is a real stickler when it comes to footwear, and will only think about replacing a pair when they are falling apart, so I am sneakily adding this one in without him knowing- teehee! The pair above by Fred Perry (£75) are called Byron Low Ginger and are inspired by the desert boot. Suede shoes are just so good when you wear them right, and I really think Paul should take the hint and GET SOME NEW SHOES MAN.

Next up is a brand new favourite brand of Paul’s, mostly because he likes the manly name, but also because of the designs too! Here’s the Jack Wolfskin picks…

This Sutherland Cross Sweat is right up Paul’s street. It’s a little bit quirky with the waffle/fleece mix. It’s a lightweight material jacket despite the appearance, and can be worn open or fully zipped up to the hood. This jacket checks out at £100, and is a seriously good investment piece for your Spring wardrobe if you ask Paul or me.

Last on the husband takeover spring wardrobe wishlist is this striking tee called Mexican Pepper. We all need a little spice in our lives, so why not shake it into your wardrobe? Red may not be the first colour you think of for Spring, but this speaks for itself and at just £25, you can’t go wrong!

See more for yourself over on the Terraces Menswear website and discover more brands such a Stone Island, Barbour and Lacoste.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this husband takeover, let us know what pieces really stood out to you, and what you think Paul should be wearing this Spring!

Husband Takeover – The Blue Edit with The Idle Man

Oh my word, can you believe what is going on outside this week? For us brits, the Beast from the East has hit home hard and we aren’t going anywhere until it passes! Well, we did manage to make it to the back garden to take some great photos in the snow. It’s time for my next Husband Takeover – The Blue Edit with The Idle Man.

The Idle Man (@Idle) is a fantastic men’s fashion retailer with hashtag #StyleMadeEasy. The concept is all about minimal yet modern looks and we were so up for working with the brand, that is my husband and I. Paul rarely throws any of his clothes away until they are threadbare, crumpled messes- socks especially! So we had a little wardrobe cleanse to see in the new year, and something blue decided to become the theme of this takeover.

This navy bomber jacket with black fleece collar detail works so well to protect Paul in the -4 degree chill.

I love how Paul looks in blue, it’s definitely his colour. Above he is wearing the Borg bomber jacket, classic long-sleeved t-shirt and slim fit stonewash jeans from The Idle Man.

There’s no problem with wearing blue head to toe as long as you choose different shades. Dark jacket with light jeans and vice versa. Now onto the second look:

We fell in love with this stonewash denim western jacket- it really works with Paul’s playful style and his inner childhood cowboy!

The Idle Man, stocks everything from jackets and jeans to trainers and t-shirts and is a real go-to destination for men. Alongside the online shop, The Idle Man Manual is a blog dedicated to offering style advice as well as stories and guides about music, grooming and lifestyle!

Husband takeover- what it takes to be a BoohooMAN

I love it when my family gets the opportunity to take part in my blog posts. Remember when we did that video where Paul did my makeup? Well he has certainly loved getting involved, and now it’s time to show you a different side to him in my husband takeover- what it takes to be a BoohooMAN.

BoohooMAN launched its first full range of Big & Tall clothing this season, helping to deliver a one stop fashion destination for men of all ages. There is a sizeable age gap between my husband and I, but that doesn’t mean we don’t work together in life or through our style. When Paul wants to be, he can be dapper, handsome and just as youthful as me!

Big and Tall Space dye zip hoodie size XL

Big and Tall Man Dash tshirt size XL

To me, here is what it takes to be a BoohooMAN:

A BoohooMAN is someone you can share your worst fears with and who doesn’t judge you.

A BoohooMAN is someone who will always stay true to what he believes in, and won’t let anyone steer him down a different path.

A BoohooMAN will be honest, supportive and will make you see sense when you have lost your sight.

To me, Paul is the definition of what it takes to be a BoohooMAN and always has been. 7 years ago (give or take a few months) I knew I had met someone very special. He proves this to me every day and sees me through my crazy mood swings without any sign of stress or anger.

Canvas plimsolls size 10

Basic joggers colour grey size L

I plan to have a few more husband takeovers on my site and social channels soon, so let me know if you enjoyed this husband takeover- what it takes to be a BoohooMAN. See what others are saying about BoohooMAN over on BritainReviews!
