Welcoming Alice to the world with Bakerdays

Today marks Alice’s eight week milestone! I really cannot believe how we are almost at the two month mark. She has come such a long way since the 16th October and what better way to celebrate her being here than cake! I’ve teamed up a remarkable and innovative online service who have helped by creating a fabulous, personalised letterbox cake. Make sure you keep on reading to enter my competition to win your very own personalised cake! We are welcoming Alice to the world with Bakerdays today, and you can celebrate with us!

Alice’s letterbox cake is quite literally a cake that can fit through your letterbox. It is perfectly designed by experts, so all I had to do was choose the text and a rough design scheme. I was so blown away by the final design and finish- it was such a shame to cut into it!

Alice loved it too, of course she didn’t actually eat any but she was certainly interested and wanted a hold!

The cake was ordered gluten free and had all her birth details on it. The colour scheme was her favourite colour- purple! There are so many options for the filling and sponge- just take a look online! There are loads of ready to order designs to choose from if you don’t want to make one up from scratch.

Alice was fully pooped after all the excitement, so all that was left to do was eat the yummy cake!

So my friends, would you like your very own personalised letterbox cake? Enter on Twitter by retweeting the competition tweet and enter on Facebook by sharing the competition post. To gain an extra early entry, all you have to do is COMMENT BELOW!

Competition ends 7pm on Tuesday 12th December, winner will be chosen at random by all valid entries. UK only.

Husband takeover- what it takes to be a BoohooMAN

I love it when my family gets the opportunity to take part in my blog posts. Remember when we did that video where Paul did my makeup? Well he has certainly loved getting involved, and now it’s time to show you a different side to him in my husband takeover- what it takes to be a BoohooMAN.

BoohooMAN launched its first full range of Big & Tall clothing this season, helping to deliver a one stop fashion destination for men of all ages. There is a sizeable age gap between my husband and I, but that doesn’t mean we don’t work together in life or through our style. When Paul wants to be, he can be dapper, handsome and just as youthful as me!

Big and Tall Space dye zip hoodie size XL

Big and Tall Man Dash tshirt size XL

To me, here is what it takes to be a BoohooMAN:

A BoohooMAN is someone you can share your worst fears with and who doesn’t judge you.

A BoohooMAN is someone who will always stay true to what he believes in, and won’t let anyone steer him down a different path.

A BoohooMAN will be honest, supportive and will make you see sense when you have lost your sight.

To me, Paul is the definition of what it takes to be a BoohooMAN and always has been. 7 years ago (give or take a few months) I knew I had met someone very special. He proves this to me every day and sees me through my crazy mood swings without any sign of stress or anger.

Skinny fit rigid jeans size 34

Canvas plimsolls size 10

Big and Tall Black shirt with rolled sleeves size XL

Basic joggers colour grey size L

I plan to have a few more husband takeovers on my site and social channels soon, so let me know if you enjoyed this husband takeover- what it takes to be a BoohooMAN. See what others are saying about BoohooMAN over on BritainReviews!

Going back to blogging after giving birth

Going back to blogging after giving birth has genuinely been a lot easier than expected. This is partly down to the fact that my husband has been with me every step of the way, which I wasn’t factoring in that this would be happening. So, we are making the most of spending this incredible time together until the new year, when sadly he will have to go back to work. I went ‘back to work’ in a very exciting way- my first blogger event sans baby and maternity bra (thank the lord!) was an exclusive party with KISS products and Pixie Lott.

The party was at The Cuckoo Club, Mayfair, a very smart affair indeed and one that I had not visited before. The atmosphere was busy from the get go, so I decided to take my drink and have a sit down with a talented henna artist.

@tropicalbirdart

ImPRESS nails and KISS lashes were being applied to the room- I loved seeing the latest releases and some of my favourites too.

Such a glamorous table! I got my all time favourite KISS lashes applied- ‘Lily’, pics below!

It was great bumping into Fran (@apageofme), another blogger babe!

Finally I got to have a chat with the latest brand ambassador for KISS- Pixie Lott! She wanted to know all about baby Alice and told me she really wanted kids too, but waiting for the right time.

See if you can spot my auto, just above Pixie’s. Below are my top two picks from the latest imPRESS collections. The most amazing new colours and designs for the party season available from Boots in store and online.

Going back to blogging after giving birth has been possible thanks to the incredible support network around me- you know who you are so thank you. And as for me, I am happy to spend the day away to have some time by myself as a blogger. Then when I get home, Alice is waiting for me!

Alice’s first scrapbook by Potato Print

It’s a crazy thing having a baby. No sooner than those first precious days are here, it seems that time fast forwards until you don’t know how you got up to that first month. Which is why I feel it’s so important to keep a record of the first weeks when it all happens. Alice’s first scrapbook by Potato Print* was just the thing I was searching for in an album- its personalised cover and blank centre left it open for me to get creative.

The ‘first adventures’ album is £25 and lets you choose the front cover text and photo. It also comes with handy labels inside for you to add in wherever you choose. The date markers are such a clever little touch!

I decided to use the 30 pages to document Alice’s first four weeks, starting from day one…

I used the sticky cut out flags for the important titles- such as meeting the great grandparents!

And of course we had to use up at least three pages for her photoshoot sessions on day 13 and 23 of her journey.

I ended the album with my favourite snaps of Alice with her mummy and daddy- that last one was taken on our one year anniversary and was the first day she started smiling!

Something like this would make an amazing new baby present or as a Christmas present too. I have a 10% off discount code for you to use: SAHARASPLASH10 so go get creative!

Thanks for reading Alice’s first scrapbook by Potato Print!

Baby massage class with Spa Experience

At just 24 days old, Alice took her first journey into the city. My sister Evie came along with us to help out during the day. We were headed towards Kensington at 10am (after a quick stop to get some hash browns) for a very exciting blogger event. Alice had been invited to experience a baby massage class at Kensington Leisure Centre hosted by Spa Experience.

I was a little nervous about taking her out for an entire day after just little outings, but as per usual she was brilliant.

It was also the first time taking out my Fact + Fiction baby bag!

We arrived just in time and the setup was carefully laid out for mummies and babies.

Our Spa Experience instructor Neji talked us through what to expect throughout the class and it was super relaxed and chilled out. We got Alice out of her nappy, thankfully she had just done her business so we were safe!

We used the oil provided to practice massaging the legs which is the easiest part to start with as baby massage beginners. We practiced the ‘Swedish milking technique’ which uses both hands. You go from ankle to thigh with one hand while keeping hold of the ankle with the other. We also used ‘rolling’ on the legs and she loved the ankle circles!

We sang songs to create a lovely atmosphere, and by this time Alice wanted to have a feed and walk around to see the room so we listened in on the last part of the class.

After a boosting smoothie, the mums were treated to mini spa treatments and so I opted for a back neck and shoulder massage.

We also came away with some lovely products and a book all about baby massage. If you are interested in the book, I’ve got the link for you here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Infant-Massage-Handbook-Loving-Parents/dp/0285636170

Thank you so much to Spa Experience for inviting us along to the baby massage class- we had a fabulous time and have been massaging at home ever since!
