Doing London Fashion Week my own way

London Fashion Week has ever so quickly come and gone again, and although I didn’t attend any shows this season, I did venture to London to do some catwalking of my own. I met with Surrey-based photographer Lucy Hooper to help me capture some shots wearing Femme Luxe Finery (gifted). We met at 12 o clock in West London and it was unfortunately pouring down!

The rain was not going to stop any time soon, so we decided against the usual South Kensington, white house backdrop and dove into a nearby cafe to get some inspiration with a nice cup of tea and cake.

I just love how wonderfully well these turned out- you can’t go wrong with a mustard cable knit and faux leather leggings on a dreary day. The cafe’s sultry interior made the outfit fit right in as I enjoyed a gluten free red velvet cupcake. As the rain wasn’t prepared to subside for us, we then took to the London Underground to capture some urban shots on the tube. Even though it was rather packed around central London on a Monday afternoon, we still managed to whip the camera out and create some magic moments…

Our next stop was Covent Garden, a place that is swarming during London Fashion Week with people from all over the globe- mostly wearing black vinyl trousers, stompy boots and trench coats. Although that’s not really my style, I couldn’t wait to get changed into outfit number two, a burnt orange jumpsuit! I decided to wear the jumpsuit with a cropped teddy jacket and satchel bag to compliment the warm tones. I love how all the pieces went together to create a stylish yet effortless look. As the weather was still a bit drizzly, we took cover under some of Covent Garden’s pillars to start our next lookbook. The lighting was just right on the cloudy day, just perfect for what we had in mind. We also found a lovely corner filled with plants that really made the high neck jumpsuit stand out from the crowd.

Pillar and plant poses accomplished, we made our way down to Freemason’s Hall, a prime location for budding fashion enthusiasts. Most of LFW’s Fashion Scout shows are held here so we tried our luck to see what was happening. But we found that nothing was happening outside when we arrived, as a show was taking place inside. Timing is everything during Fashion Week, so we made use of the empty, stone steps to create our own catwalk look.

I have never been able to get a good walking shot before, but Lucy managed to pull it off no problem, and it only took about three takes! I decided to save my final look until I got back home as the weather was not letting up. Make sure to keep an eye on my Instagram page for the last look coming soon.

Even though LFW passed me by this time, I still felt that same energy and excitement on that day in London, knowing the whole city was abuzz with models, paps and designers freaking out. We did it in such a relaxed way, I might book another solo photoshoot for fashion week in September! My final word of wisdom: Make the city your own catwalk every time you go exploring, wear each outfit like you mean it and hold your head up high with confidence.

London Fashion Week Day Five

Woohoo we made it to day five! Or rather I did haha! I think I saved my best look till last as a lot of thought went into this outfit inspired by Harley Quinn. For those of you who have experienced fashion week you will know when I say how much hard work it is. I mean I’m still covering it and we are now in October! It’s not just about the shows, it’s about you, your friends, making new contacts and above all having a good time. So that’s why it is so important to not overdo it, to not try and go to absolutely everything because it’s just not possible. Choose smart and whatever happens, wear flats on the last day! Here is London Fashion Week Day Five for you…

My Outfit

My outfit number five consists of a custom made Harley Quinn jacket (because I just had to!) and I ‘m wearing ripped denim shorts and a dark red bralette/choker set from Boohoo. My bag as ever is by the fantastic brand Today I’m Me. I want to thank Today I’m Me for helping make each outfit look so great and it’s always a pleasure working with my favourite bag boutique!

Little Extras

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

These stunning earrings are by Roz Buehrlen, a British designer who is based in Kent. These are Gold Swallow earrings which also come in silver too. I think this adds something a little extra to the look but still manages to maintain its concept.

Fun Affair

Fun Affair was such a great show. We had lots of variety and I got the best views from the front row. I would definitely use the caption ‘woke up like this’ to describe this show. It was effortless dishelvement as clothes were put on backwards with bralette on top of a crisp white shirt- I’ve actually seen this out and about recently so very on trend! It was mix and match but done very stylishly and I could see that a lot of thought had gone into each look.

David Ferreira

These last ones came out a little dark so apologies for that. Lighting isn’t always something that can be counted on for a fashion show especially as the music and light work together to reflect the mood of the designs. David Ferreira was absolutely worth the wait and I didn’t care that I didn’t have a seat either. For me this season reminded me of the inspirational Lady Gaga so much. The powerful message to ‘break free from your stereotype’ along with some exquisite garments really stuck wth me and I think that Gaga would definitely rock any one of these looks.

London Fashion Week Day Four

Day Four of Fashion Week came around quicker than expected. With all the rushing around and different outfits it has been quite nice to go through all my footage and break it all down into daily chunks for you. I think that the shows from London Fashion Week Day Four were really strong and unique, so enjoy!

I was incredibly happy about my London Fashion Week Day Four outfit because as you can see it’s my favourite colour- bright orange! This lovely dress is from Sydney Davies London and I cannot thank The Colour 8 agency for hooking me up with this. I had a wonderful time at the Look Fantastic Blogger’s Lounge where the Philip B team styled my hair to go with the bold dress. My stylist plaited and then ironed the plaits to create a crimped mane for my day four look- I think it was fantastic!

Little Extras

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The one thing I love about Fashion Scout is that all the designers from the week’s catwalk shows are on display to view in one of the many rooms. You may remember seeing these pieces in my LFW Day One post!

Catwalk Highlights

Run

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Run was actually a presentation rather than a catwalk show. Guests could walk right up to the models as they slowly moved back and forwards which was great to see and get lots of shots. Having a presentation instead of a catwalk show means more work for the models as they are having to stay in character on the runway for a much longer time than usual. These girls did a fantastic job, and I just loved the vibrant collection!

VIN+OMI

This catwalk show was by far the most far out show both for distance and concept. It took my sister and I quite a while to find it but when we did the queues were easy to spot which went round the whole building. At one point we thought we weren’t going to get in, but we managed by the skin of our teeth and got quite a good view from a standing position near the end of the runway. As you can see there were hundreds of origami birds hanging from the ceiling. The message was really dark and powerful from the clothes. Very creative and memorable.

Point Blank
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

One last presentation to wrap up London Fashion Week Day Four- this time we are taken to the beach! Point Blank went for a beach concept and showcased swimwear and fabulous holiday wear for its SS17 collection. I loved the makeup and wetlook hair of the models and the music helped set the scene with crashing waves to make us feel those summer vibes!

London Fashion Week Day Three

I hope you’ve all been enjoying my Fashion Week adventures so far, there are three more days to come and I have lots more content to show you! Fashion Week is something very special to me ever since I started blogging. I’ve met some lovely people and discovered some great designers over the past three seasons, and today I’ll be sharing more adventures with you. Here is London Fashion Week Day Three.

I went for a monochrome vibe for day three and wore some washed out grey skinny jeans with a bodysuit from American Apparel. I stole my sister’s jacket and went for a high ponytail with a bright red lip. My bag is from Today I’m Me.

Something Unexpected

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

One of the things I love about LFW is that you never quite know what is around the corner, quite literally in this case! As I was headed to a blogger lounge, my Google maps took me past Soho Square where I stumbled across an outdoor exhibition by Malone. This was something unexpected yet totally fabulous.

Apu Jan

I was lucky enough to be FROW for the Apu Jan show. This was a brand new designer for me and so I went into the show pretty much clueless on what to expect. This turned out to be one of my favourite shows from the whole season. I loved the concept, the blue colours and the variety from the show. The music was so melodic which added nicely to the overall effect.

Oxford Fashion Studio

And now we come to a golden oldie of catwalk shows (well in my experience!). This is a series of designers who showcased as a part of Oxford Fashion Studio which I always eagerly anticipate. OFS select a brilliant range of talent and this season did not disappoint. Among the designers were April Banbury (first three dresses) and Ines de Luca (last shot). I also love the location where the catwalks take place each season- Devonshire Square. It’s so different and refreshing to not be in a building for a change!

London Fashion Week Day Two

London Fashion Week Day Two had me visiting one of my favourite places- The Grooming Room. Forward PR never disappoints at pulling out all the stops for bloggers, press and special guests at The Grooming Room and this season was no different. I had an afternoon appointment with the Sasoon hairstylists and a nail appointment too. This had me prepped and ready to go before hitting the road to my catwalk shows!

My Outfit

On Day Two I wore a floral co-ord and nude duster coat from Boohoo. My necklace was Butler and Wilson and my bucket bag was from Today I’m Me.

I had some lovely orb earrings to complete my look which were from the Vivienne Westwood collection available online at Tessuti, one of my favourite sites for those special pieces. I paired the earrings with a bright lip and some lashes from the KISS collection. My hair was styled so that the earrings were on show at all times, I just love them!

Morecco

London Fashion Week Day Two took me to the Morecco show. I think all the colours were used for this season’s show as each look was as vibrant as the next. A lot of flowing materials and wrapped designs were displayed during the show. It was good to see Morecco as this was my first time viewing this specific designer. The show was a part of Fashion Scout at Freemason’s Hall.

Stay tuned for Day Three coming soon!

London Fashion Week Day One

I am forever grateful that the weather for this season’s fashion week decided to hold on just beore it thought to take a wintery turn. This will be the last time in 2016 you will see me out and about in tiny crop tops and bare legs as winter has most definitely come to the capital now that October is here. Despite some mild showers on day one, the weather was just perfect and I am thrilled to share my experiences with you from start to finish. Here is the first of five posts- London Fashion Week Day One.

My Outfit

london-fashion-week-day-one-17

london-fashion-week-day-one-9

Since this was a rainy day, I wore a very fitting trench coat dress from Red Herring. I paired the dress with a gorgeous bag from Today I’m Me and Steve Madden shoes. It was great to hang out with Eleasha (Duchess of Fashion) too who helped with the shots!

The Place

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The place where I spent most of my time seeing the catwalk shows was at Freemason’s Hall for Fashion Scout. There were a few other places including a congress centre and a church too!

Catwalk Highlights

Ong-Oaj Pairam

london-fashion-week-day-one-11 london-fashion-week-day-one-15

I eagerly anticipated the Ong-Oaj Pairam show just like the previous season. He uses such a range of materials and the fabrics and colours are just to die for! A #perfectseason.

Ones to Watch

london-fashion-week-day-one-25 london-fashion-week-day-one-30

Tom Daley certainly loved being on the FROW for the Ones to Watch catwalk which showcased four top designers including Ana Ljubinkovic and Billie Jacobina pictured above.

Rocky Star

london-fashion-week-day-one-37 london-fashion-week-day-one-36 london-fashion-week-day-one-39

Rocky Star stole the show with their gorgeous embellished gowns. This season had a very Moroccan vibe as the girls came out to showcase each design. Heavy eyeliner and earthy tones made for a great ending to London Fashion Week Day One.
