RUSH Salon Wimbledon Village

When it comes to salons and regular appointments, I must admit that this is so not me. I’m the type of girl that never gets root touchups and would rather leave it six months until a sort of ombré happens. So when I eventually do make it to a salon, I’m going to have something major done. Here’s my experience of the RUSH Salon Wimbledon Village.

The RUSH Salon Wimbledon Village has been open for just a few months now, so I was really excited to visit its brand new site. There are two RUSH salons in the area, one being just Wimbledon and this one being much closer to Wimbledon Common on the High Street.

Here are some snaps of my hair before- far too long and much damage and breakage due to  brushing and styling. Can you believe the last haircut I had was before my wedding back in November?! My stylist Zoe had just the thing, starting off with the best hair wash complete with massaging chair!

Zoe used the Kerastase trio above from the Volumifique range as well as cutting off a sizeable chunk to refresh my hair.

Having long, fine hair will also weigh it down more, meaning less volume unless you style with product.

Here is the after pic! So much better right? The ends look so healthy compared to just an hour beforehand, I was so pleased to have some fullness back in my hair.

I know there’s a mirror line in this shot but I was trying to be edgy and sort of like it! What do you think of my hair difference? Have you been to a RUSH Salon before? Let me know in the comments below!

Brand new Botanics Collections

So the day of this event was one of the stupid crazy hottest days of the year. Even in the cab ride over with the AC full blast, I was seriously melting! The hot summer ride pulled up outside the venue in the heart of Soho, and I stepped into a magical scene filled with botanicals everywhere the eye could see. The exclusive range at Boots has had a drastic makeover and I’m here to share the brand new Botanics collections news with you!

You can search the hashtag #theplantone on social media for all the details, but I’ll fill you in on the main points. The Botanics brand focuses on natural skincare and using the power of plants to induce healthy skin. This new launch sees us celebrate five new collections which targets different areas of skincare:

Botanics- Organic
Botanics- All Bright
Botanics- Hydration Burst
Botanics- Radiant Youth
Botanics- Triple Age Renewal

I was shown round the display room and had a chance to sample, smell and learn about each of the collection’s unique properties.

This Organic green range is powered by Rosehip, rich in Vitamin C and Omegas 3+6

Not only were the brand new Botanics collections there on the day, there was also an Australian Yoga wear company called Dharma Bums showcasing their new plant inspired collection! They had a monogramming service too so I was so thrilled to take away my favourite pair of leggings with my initials. I tried them on over my bump and the stretchy material worked just fine.

I had such a fun time hand picking products from the new range tailored to my own skincare needs. I’m trying out:

Radiant Youth Microdermabrasion Polish: £9.99
Hydration Burst Cleanser: £6.99
Hydration Burst Day Cream: £8.99
All Bright Micellar Cleansing Solution: £5.49
All Bright Eye Roll-on: £11.99
All Bright Radiance Balm: £7.99
Organic Facial Oil: £11.49

The entire new range is available exclusively at Boots (on shelf) as of tomorrow and online as of today! Tailor make a skincare collection that’s made just for you via Boots.com.

Blogger’s Office First Look!

Since moving out of London and to the Essex countryside, Paul and I have been working on renovating our annex into something really special. We will be living here for a while and so it is only fitting for us to have a lovely space, including a blogger’s office! We are very lucky to have such a wonderful space to work with and I am happy to say that the office corner is now complete! So here is our joint effort blogger’s office first look!

We both really liked the idea of having a clean, white desk to work from- bonus points for a blogger! This structure is actually a two-parter from different places believe it or not. The left hand square box shelves and the part that the PC screen sits on is from Argos, and the drawers to the right are from Ikea. This cost a total of £115 (£59.99+£55).

The desk space is colourfully decorated with a few pieces from Fabriano Boutique*. The cactus pen holder and watermelon sticky notes bring summer vibes to our blogger’s office.

Little touches like our wedding photo plus hanging flowers we used in our ceremony makes it feel really personal and a space for the two of us to use.

In the corner we have a Brackenheath iSpot Blade* desk lamp from Ormrod.com. Ormrod are a premier lighting wholesaler of lighting, both residential and commercial, in the West London area.

The lamp light is fully adjustable in brightness and the head fixture is flexible too. It’s neat, slimline and works so well in our blogger’s office.

Stylish affordability at under £40!

Here’s a sneak peek at what’s inside the drawers…

Blogger mail stationery and press material for days!

Across the room, just behind the desk is my own personal blogger area. I have two units (again from Ikea) to keep my blogger life organised and out of the way.

I’ve decorated the units with minimal but colourful flair. Of course my Kylie lipkits couldn’t go in the drawers, nor my nail polish collection!

The tallest unit on the right has a lift up top with a cute hidden mirror!

I’ve organised the drawers according to hair, body, fragrance, makeup etc.

I hope you like what we’ve done with the space- thanks so much for reading Blogger’s Office First Look!

What my mum is made of

I’m doing a ‘What my mum is made of’ post around the theme of Mother’s Day this year! So…Tracy Vince was born at home on the 22nd September 1963. She grew up in Ipswich town with her older sister and parents. It was a fairly normal household but of course not without its ups and downs. She started work alongside school as a teenager and began to make a name for herself in the world like many of us do. After school, she decided on a career move and switched to insurance and got a company car.

She had a soft spot for music like Michael Jackson and Earth Wind and Fire as she started into her twenties. She moved on up in her professional career and made new friends and relationships. Then came the year of 1988. She was living in her own home and soon after was burgled, hence the call out to my dad (unbeknownst to her at that time) to come and install a burglar alarm. Then in the year 1990, I was born!

I grew up with my mother, and instead of going back to work, she decided to open up a nursery in our home so that she could look after me full time as well as earn some money. 24 years later, the nursery is still going and growing strong (thankfully not in our home anymore!) as well as my mother. She took a big risk and it definitely paid off which has given my sister and I the best lives we could ask for.

My mum is there for the whole family whenever they need her. She manages her business every day, she never misses a single thing from school concerts to my graduation. She has driven miles and miles to get me when I have been sick and I know that I can rely on her for anything and everything.

What my mum is made of is independence, determination and a hard working ethos. This has had a great effect on who I am and the morals I live by. I am taking risks in my blogging career move just like her, and I hope to report that in 24 years I will be just as successful as my mother!

I hope that for all of us out there lucky to have our mothers today, you will recognise her every day, not just one day out of the year plus on her birthday!

I have two lovely little gifts that are just perfect for the hard working mothers out there that will last a lot longer than chocolates or flowers:

Angels trumpet candle- DL & Co

To me this candle symbolises the relationship I have with my mum- at some times heated but sweet-smelling every day. The packaging is so graceful and there are many unique scents to choose from on Rooi.com

Big Love Heart spoon set

I love this cute heart spoon set! It’s a little treat for your mum so that every time she goes for a tub of Ben and Jerrys, or in my mum’s case apple pie, she will know that you love her.

Thanks for reading what my mum is made of. I hope you had a great Mother’s Day this year and keep checking back for brand new posts on Saharasplash.com!

SpaSeekers outing to K West Hotel and Spa

It’s been a very fun filled first couple of months in 2017. If you have been following my social media you have seen me out and about in London pretty much 3-4 days a week, which is a lot seeing as I’m now living elsewhere. Not going to lie it has been tough getting up at the same time as my husband (5.30am) to get into London and beat the morning traffic. But it isn’t without its rewards. So with that being said, I want to delve right into a fantastic adventure I had a few weeks back involving a SpaSeekers outing to K West Hotel and Spa.

A bit about the K West Hotel and Spa

The K West Hotel and Spa (nothing to do with Yeezy), located just five minutes from Sherpherds Bush station, has a very cool history. Before it was turned into a Hotel and Spa, it actually used to be the old BBC recording studio. The likes of David Bowie and Bob Marley have recorded there in the past and they have done such a fabulous job in refurbing the place into a modern yet edgy hotel which The A listers love.

Munchies at The Maynard Arms

This January has come and gone so fast don’t you think? We are already into month two of the year, and although there is a heavy load of stuff going on in the world (and social media) right now, it doesn’t mean we can’t have a little joy in the form of several courses of great food. The Maynard Arms has recently reopened its doors and I was invited along with a number of bloggers to see what they had to offer. So here is a little bit about my munchies at The Maynard Arms.

I went along with my good friend from Trousseau Diaries on a very cold evening, and due to strike action on this particular day we ended up being a little late. Nevertheless, the journey from Oxford Circus to Crouch End was relatively simple. We hopped on a bus at Finsbury Park and were dropped off outside the Maynard Arms Pub.

We met up with our host and other guests sat along a large wooden table and I quickly got my very own personal menu marking all the gluten free dishes – a very good selection!

Roast rainbow vegetable salad, lentils, goat’s cheese curd, tahini dressing

Ribeye steak, herb crusted bone marrow, mushroom tarragon duxelle, crispy potato cake

Flat iron chicken, broccoli spinach slaw, fries

These three dishes were so yummy. Goat’s cheese and spinach salad is one of my favourite combos out there and it led wonderfully into the juicy lemon chicken and perfectly cooked steak. Each dish had something very original about it, very ‘not your average’ pub dinner by any standard.

Lemon curd eton mess, roasted pistachio nuts

Oh my this dessert had all the spoons going in for the kill. Again, something you do not see as the usual eton mess is normally a mixture of red fruit, but it was amazing.

If you are looking for a truly sophisticated dining experience with a traditional, rustic space then munchies at The Maynard Arms is definitely in your future!
