Sleepy Feet by Mummy Loves Organics

I know I’ve been doing a lot of posts recently about Alice and parenting, but hey, that’s kind of where my life is right now. There are lots of fashion and beauty edits coming up so don’t think it’s all about Alice, but today I’m letting you guys know about a lovely little product:  Sleepy Feet by Mummy Loves Organics.

Mummy Loves Organics is a cruelty free company and all products are handmade with love and care. The Sleepy Feet oil is used to help babies and children sleep as well as combat night terrors.

Alice was curious about the Sleepy Feet product box and definitely gave me the ‘what’s this mummy?’ look.

Key ingredients are English Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Frankincense, Mandarin and Watermelon oil- such a magical combination. It’s a gentle scent that when used can be massaged into the soles of the feet, into the back of the neck and temples of your baby/child.

The Sleepy Feet oil by Mummy Loves Organics comes with a handy rollerball top so there’s no danger of your baby grabbing it and spilling it everywhere!

The scent is calming, soothing and the fragrance is subtle but long lasting. You can also get this wonderful oil as a reed diffiser for baby’s nursery if you prefer to have the scent in the room rather than putting straight onto your baby.

It costs £12 for a bottle (which lasts for months) and is recommended for use on babies 12 weeks and over.

Discover more to the range on the website (link below) where you can find innovative candles made from essential oils that when melted can be used as a body and massage oil!

Visit the Mummy Loves Organics website here

Let me know if your child suffers from night terrors or if you find it difficult to settle your baby at night, this might be just the product you need!

What we’ve discovered through Tots Play developmental play class

I’m sure you’ve all been keeping up to date with Alice’s progress on social media. Not only does she have her own Instagram page which gives you daily doses of baby spam, she also appears frequently on my on socials too. I think it’s really important to document her journey so she (and I) can look back on what she got up to and when. This post is all about what we’ve discovered through Tots Play developmental play class over the past six weeks, and what a difference it has made for Alice.

We were contacted to come and enjoy a taster session at our local play class with Carly at the Havers Community Centre. Tots Play classes are unique, multi-activity, developmental play classes held all over the country, so be sure to look up yours if you’re interested after reading this post!

There are different classes for all ages, and when we started Alice fell into the 8 weeks – crawling category: Discovery Tots. Discovery Tots is a weekly class for babies who love to learn using their whole body and all their senses! This includes baby yoga, movement and music, baby sign language, multi sensory play and wind down time. It’s a lot to take in for a baby in just one hour, but for them I’m sure the class feels like a lot longer.

We met with the other mums and dads in the group and easily joined in singing songs, learning new moves and trying some baby signs.

After our welcome and warm up, the next part of the the class was themed which is ideal for a baby’s sponge-like brain. There is always something new to explore, be it sensory toys, books and lots of different things to touch and hold.

Just look at this fabulous sensory tent filled with lights galore- Alice was mesmerised!

New things we’ve discovered which Alice now loves:

  • Parachuting material up into the air and down onto her
  • Bubbles- we went out and bought a bubble machine after the first class

The big differences in Alice from week one to week six:

  • Alice is much more confident when interacting with other babies her age
  • Alice has come on leaps and bounds with her ability to move. She was only just about rolling over when we started, now she is on all fours and moving about (very shaky and falling lots though)
  • Alice can now recognise the sign for milk, and she is able to wave hello and goodbye thanks to Tots Play and Carly

Here are some shots from a more recent class- definitely more hair and so much stronger!

If you want to find your local Tots Play class, head over to the website here for more details.

We have just loved being a part of this group, and what we’ve discovered through Tots Play developmental play class is priceless for both myself and Alice. We’re so looking forward to our next session tomorrow! Look out for it on Alice’s insta story (@thealiceiris).

Aldi Specialbuy Baby Event is back

Yes that’s right, the Aldi Specialbuy Baby Event is back, and this one’s even better than the last! Brand new additions such as the mamia baby carrier, fun new books and beautifully designed sleepsuits are ready and waiting for you. Bigger furniture items such as the cot bed and changing unit have already sold out online, and the eagerly anticipated ‘Accent rocking chair’ is set to be the hottest seller. Before you rush off to scope it all out, take a look at some of the things Alice and I are loving from this specialbuy event…

These are such beautiful cloths and available in a range of colours in sets of three. In the middle are some rather fun finger puppets. Notice the monkey is missing from this set as Alice has already claimed it and it wasn’t available at the time of photography ?

Muslins- 3pack (£2.99) and jungle finger puppets (£4.99)

Alice just adores any book with a big button to press for sounds. How strong is your sanity mums- 100 pushes or 1000???

Head, shoulders, knees and toes singalong book (£1.79)

Next up is a rather scrummy shampoo. If you’re already in danger of eating your child due to scrumminess, be warned as this makes their heads smell even more amazing.

Lacura strawberry shampoo (85p)

Below is one of the many adorable dinner set options. You could also go for shark, butterfly, monkey and giraffe!

Owl Dinner set (£5.99)

Now this next item (again in other styles) just takes the cake for awesome design and paracticality points. These are individual bumpers for your cot bars! Super clever and we got the lion bumper bar set as pictured below:

Lion cot bumper bar set 8 pack (£8.99)

I think we have ended up with an average of two and a half blankets in each room and car we own. This is useful as well as time saving- who wants to be running round trying to find a blanket when you’re already half an hour late leaving the house because duh, you have a baby!

Lily and Dan grey baby blanket (£3.99)

The sale has already started online and it’s heading in store for April 19th. There are hundreds of items available on the website and some are in store only so you’ll have to pop down to your local Aldi if you see something you just have to have!

Alice says ‘quick, head down to Aldi this week!’

Going for the mummy chop at RUSH Hair Shepherds Bush

Ok so I’m not going to admit how long it’s been since I had a haircut, but let’s just say it’s been a very looooong while. My hair, as you may have guessed, is very fine and tends to get tangled up with minimal effort. Since having Alice, my hair has been low down on my priority list as I just tie it up every day, but enough is enough. I just couldn’t keep on living in a hair disaster movie. It was too long, way too uneven in colour and so going for the mummy chop at RUSH Hair Shepherds Bush was the plan.

We took a before shot from the back and you can see what I mean. Outgrown roots that could pass for ombré when styled and curled, but left untamed and boring was what we were dealing with. I told my stylist at RUSH Hair Shepherds Bush exactly what I was after, at least 4-5 inches off and a clean cut and refresh.

I just love every RUSH salon I go to, the lighting is always on point so you don’t look into the mirror and scream when you see yourself. Magazines, drinks and anything you need on hand for a relaxing and stress free appointment.

This is how much hair we took off in the end- savage but I felt so good as soon as it was done. Sort of like makeover week on America’s Next Top Model!

I chose a Kerastase treatment as well, the green vile for reconstruction, and it worked a treat.

Here are my after shots- so much better right?! Alice won’t be able to get her hands on my shorter locks so easily, but the length is still long enough to tie back if needed, just not every day moving forward!!

If you’re looking to get a new look done, I have a special offer for you if you visit the Shepherds Bush Salon – 50% off for all new clients! You’re welcome, and thanks for reading…

In collaboration with RUSH Hair and Beauty

Going for the mummy chop at RUSH Hair Shepherds Bush left you wanting more? Next up is some motivation as I head to my first gym since giving birth!

Getting fit on demand with ESquared

I don’t know about you but I find it extremely hard to commit to a gym. It’s not just the motivation, but also the fact that I am never in one place long enough to ‘get my gym on’ on a regular basis. I’ve failed miserably at subscribing to several gyms when I was at uni and also when I moved to London, so a new found app called Esquared has got the solution to help a girl just like me.

The Esquared app lets you get fit on demand, no strings or memberships attached. It’s as simple as click and go whenever you want, even if for just one class or session. There is no monthly fee, just a one off cost to enjoy a gym/fitness/yoga sesh near you, and trust me it’s amazing.

The app works around Greater London to help you book onto a class or gym floor with minutes to spare, I booked mine 15 minutes before arriving at the Quad Health Club and Spa inside the Crowne Plaza Hotel. You can also book in advance too, but the idea of the Esquared app is fitness on demand, and that’s usually for the fast-paced lifestyle!

Paul and Alice set up in the hotel bar and enjoyed coffee and crackers while I went off to work out. I say work out lightly, as my body is still quite fragile and I wanted to work myself slowly into some cardio. I started off stretching on the gym ball- something I’m very familiar with since becoming pregnant.

I then decided to head over to the cross trainers to do a simple 15 minutes mixed with high and low intensity. It seemed so much longer than I remembered it, but with TV screens and a beautiful window looking out onto the docks, I managed it. I burned about 85 calories which was a lot more than my body has been used to burning, so I felt happy with my little triumph.

I went back onto the floor to continue with some ab and core training, I had picked up a lot of my moves from previous Pilates and Pole Fitness classes back when I was living in London full time.

Sufficiently sweaty, it was time to change and get ready for a more relaxing scene…

I was so excited to find a gym, health club and spa with the Esquared app that I never would have discovered before. This one is located near Royal Victoria, so really easy to get to from where we are, even though we live outside of London.

Getting fit on demand with Esquared is the way forward for me along with home exercise. Would this app suit your lifestyle? Find out more on www.esq2.com and download the app for Apple here and Google Play here.

Invite to afternoon tea at the Berkeley with Sexy Hair

When I received an invite to afternoon tea at the Berkeley with Sexy Hair, you can imagine I had a lot of things going through my head. First- oh my yes indeed, second- oh no what about baby. Fortunately, my super duper husband was on hand to not only drive us to London, but take care of Alice while I ate a load of cake. For those of you who don’t know, Alice is a 100% breastfed baby, and although this makes me really happy, at times it’s difficult to go anywhere without taking her with me.

So, we arrived as a family and discovered the Berkeley had the most fanciest changing facilities ever- like even more fancy than our own changing station. They provided nappies and a beautiful little room big enough for all three of us to do what we needed to do before we parted ways.

Moving onto the event itself. I blogged about Sexy Hair last year (which you can read here) and cannot believe it had been a year since the last event. I’d just found out I was pregnant and now I was back again, without baby inside me, but still with one hell of an appetite!

Look who I bumped into as well- Nishi V! This was the first time meeting Nishi face to face, though we had spoken online for quite some time!

A fabulous array of gluten free treats were laid out at my table place. I always go crazy over good gluten free afternoon teas and The Berkeley didn’t disappoint.

So the cakes and biscuits had been especially designed around the latest fashions of the SS18 winter collections. Hints of Gucci can be seen in the chocolate parasol and edible sugar flower and a special white chocolate and orange ganache was made with sexy legs on top!

My favourite dessert was the Dolce and Gabbana inspired sponge with chocolate rainbow discs.

Just look at that pink mirror glaze- perfection!

Hair expert Ross was on hand to talk us through all the latest products in the Sexy Hair range, and we took home a selection to try too!

I have been loving this leave-in treatment, Soya want it all! Available on Beauty Bay.

Thanks for reading my invite to afternoon tea at the Berkeley with Sexy Hair!
